Following a period of consultation the National Cancer Peer Review Programme have this week issued this week the Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) measures as part of the Manual for Cancer Services. It is intended to include the measures in the next round of peer review (2014). The measures will supersede the previous section of the Upper Gastro-intestinal (UGI) measures, covering pancreato-biliary MDTs. Adherence to the measures in the manual for cancer service is not mandatory for the NHS but it is used by the National Peer Review Programme as part of the assessment of cancer services and to provide a ready specification for commissioning of cancer services within a given locality. A copy of the HPB measures can be found in the Standards section of the BSGAR website. This section also includes the previously issued NCPR Manual for Cancer Services Upper GI and Colorectal Measures.
