Details of awards available to aspiring GI & Abdominal Radiologists are listed below. You are actively encouraged to apply for such awards, prizes and other sources of funding. Click on the title of any grant or prize to obtain further details.

 

British Society of GI and Abdominal Radiology

Derrick Martin - Interesting Cases Prize
BSGAR awards a prize for the best interesting case presented by a Radiology Trainee at the BSGAR Annual meeting in February each year. Trainees are invited to present their cases at the Interesting cases session of the BSGAR Annual Meeting. The judging panel of BSGAR members will decide the best of these and award the prize at the meeting of British Society of GI and Abdominal Radiology (BSGAR)

BSGAR Junior Travelling Bursaries -please click here for further information
These bursaries are awarded to Junior BSGAR Members to support relevant costs for presenting original scientific work related to gastrointestinal and abdominal radiology at international meetings. There will be at least 2 such awards per year; more awards may be made at the discretion of the BSGAR committee. Closing dates and the application process for each Bursary will be announced via the BSGAR forum. Applications will be evaluated objectively by a sub-committee. The current value of each award is £250, and is intended for travel, registration or accommodation costs that are not met from other sources.

Royal College of Radiologists

Ansell Poster Prize
Presented to the best clinical radiology proffered poster presented at an annual meeting in the original scientific presentation category.


Audit Poster Prize
Presented for the best clinical radiology audit posters displayed at the RCR Annual Scientific Meeting.


Kodak Radiology Fellowship
Awarded to a clinical radiologist annually to undertake a research project or further a radiological interest.


Constance Thornton Fellowship
Awarded to enable a UK clinical radiologist to undertake a research project or further a radiological interest (preferably centres on cross-sectional imaging or paediatric radiology, likely to lead to a publication) in the UK or abroad.


Reginald G Reid/Graham Hodgson Scholarship
Awarded to a clinical radiology Fellow to visit departments in the UK or abroad to learn a new technique, develop a field of interest or to further a research project.


Travel Bursaries for European Congress of Radiology
Six annual bursaries of £250, funded by The Royal College of Radiologists, to assist attendance at the European Congress of Radiology for UK specialist registrars who are the first author of an accepted scientific paper or poster.

 

Royal College of Radiologists/Medical Research Council

Research Training Fellowship
An opportunity for radiologists in training to obtain high-level research experience, of particular importance to those considering a career in academic radiology. The Fellowship provides up to three years' support for clinically qualified and active professionals to undertake specialised or further research training within the UK.

Cancer Research UK/Royal College of Radiologists

Clinical Research Training Fellowship (Clinical Radiology)
Under a new five-year joint agreement between Cancer Research UK and The Royal College of Radiologists, Joint Fellowships can be identified from among members or Fellows of the RCR appointed to Clinical Research Fellowships in the Cancer Research UK open competition via one of the new Cancer Research UK Centres. All clinical oncologists and all clinical radiologists who are members or Fellows of the RCR are eligible for the JCRFs. Please contact Sara Townsend if you have any queries relating to the JCRFs.
