The National CT Colonography Academy (NCTCA) is the UK's national training programme for CT Colonography, delivering high-quality education for radiologists and radiographers to support safe, effective and equitable CTC services across the NHS. Developed in partnership with NHS England, BSGAR and Regional Imaging Academies, the Academy provides structured, competency-based training aligned with national standards and service priorities.
NHS England Funded CT Colonography Training 2026/27
The NCTCA, supported by NHS England, is pleased to announce the continuation of funded CT Colonography (CTC) training for Radiologists and Radiographers across England during the 2026/27 financial year.
The programme is designed to strengthen the national CTC workforce, improve access to high-quality CT Colonography services, and support the early diagnosis of colorectal cancer through standardised, accredited training.
Each NHS England region has been allocated £45,000 to support local workforce development through the Regional Imaging Academies.
Available training
Funding is available for those wishing to undertake:
Module A – CT Colonography Technique
This module provides the essential theoretical and practical foundations required to deliver a high-quality CT Colonography service, through a structured, competency-based training programme.
Module B – CT Colonography Interpretation
This module develops competence in the interpretation and reporting of CT Colonography examinations using a bespoke-designed reporting interface with real-time performance feedback.
How to apply
Expressions of Interest (EOIs) are coordinated through the Regional Imaging Academies to ensure funding is directed towards local workforce priorities and areas of greatest service need.
Applicants should discuss their nomination with their Clinical Lead or Imaging Academy Lead before submitting an Expression of Interest.
