BSGAR is delighted to announce a one-off Bowel US Workshop on 9th October 2026 set in the beautiful Lake District...

This one day course includes core aspects of intestinal ultrasound using a mixture of lectures and hands on practical demonstration involving both normal volunteers and patients with inflammatory bowel disease. A low delegate to faculty ratio is designed to maximise scan opportunity and learning experience. Pre-course online lectures on technique and anatomy and basic interpretation will also be included.

Lecture content will include clinical aspects of IBD for radiologists, recognition and complications of inflammatory bowel disease, treatment assessment and follow-up, use of cross-sectional imaging in the acute abdomen and IBD mimics. A session on setting up a service and Q&A session will be included together with links for subsequent mentoring and development.

This course assumes basic competency in abdominal ultrasound and is directed at people developing IBD US services and is targeted at Consultant Radiologists with an interest in setting up IBD ultrasound or in the first stages of practice. It will also be suitable for Radiology trainees (ST3 and above) with an interest in GI radiology , Sonographers and Gastroenterologists with experience of IBD ultrasound.

Set in the historic market town of Kendal, the gateway to the spectacular Lake District National Park, this course offers not only an excellent learning experience but also the chance to enjoy one of the UK's most beautiful landscapes, renowned for its outdoor activities, diverse wildlife, and rich cultural heritage.
